Malcolm Barnes
Malcolm joins the Sawyer Law Group after previously practicing as a patent attorney for the Vista IP Law Group in Orange County and more recently working for Haverstock & Owens in Sunnyvale. Malcolm worked as a systems engineer for PRC Lytton now Northrop Grumman in Washington D.C. before going to law school in San Diego. As a system engineer he worked in telecommunications hardware engineering, broadband networking and RF communications technologies.
Malcolm's experience includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications in technical areas including computer software and hardware, integrated circuits, semiconductors, networking, databases and telecommunications. He also prepares patent infringement and validity opinions and prosecutes trademark applications.
Malcolm received his Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2003. While at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, he served as President of the Intellectual Property Law Association. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland (1991).
Malcolm is a member of the state bar of California and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
